This week, many property owners will receive their water authority tax bill. Property owners in Krimpenerwaard will also receive a letter. This is because not all taxes are included on the bill. The missing taxes are the road levy for built properties (wegenheffing gebouwd). And the the road levy for nature areas. These tax charges will be issued later this year.
Why is the road levy not included on the tax bill?
This is due to the new Water Authorities Act (Waterschapswet). The province is responsible for setting regulations for each water authority. For the Schieland and Krimpenerwaard Water Authority (Hoogheemraadschap van Schieland en de Krimpenerwaard), the province has not yet updated these regulations to reflect the revised legislation. As a result, the rates for the road levy on built properties and nature areas have not yet become legally valid.
Other road levies are included in the tax bill
The road levy for owners of unbuilt land and the road levy for users are included on the tax bill. The province does not need to amend its regulations for these taxes, so they can be charged as normal.
